HiPEAC/Computing Continuum initiative
The Computing Continuum brought together stakeholders from industry, research, and European initiatives to discuss how Europe can strengthen its innovation ecosystem around AI, data, computing infrastructure, and connectivity. Regular workshops are organised to examine the structural challenges in translating research excellence into market leadership, explored new developments in the upcoming FP10 framework programme, and reflected on the evolving geopolitical and economic context affecting European technology strategies. Discussions emphasised the need for stronger alignment between research, industry needs, and investment mechanisms, while also highlighting the importance of integration across technological domains within the computing continuum. The computing continuum concept requires closer coordination between semiconductors, AI, computing and data infrastructure, telecommunications, robotics, and software platforms. All these digital technologies should be viewed as part of a unified innovation ecosystem rather than isolated sectors.
