Memorandum of Understanding signed between Public Safety Communication Europe and 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association
On 20 February 2026, the 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association (6G-IA) and Public Safety Communication Europe (PSCE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), renewing the cooperation agreement initially established in 2018 between PSCE and the association then known as 5G-IA.
The MoU formalises the strengthened collaboration between the two organisations and reflects their shared commitment to advancing beyond 5G deployment in Europe and supporting 6G research and innovation.
6G-IA, the voice of European industry and research for next-generation networks and services together with PSCE, the European forum for public safety communications, share a common objective: to ensure that progress in 5G and 6G technologies can effectively inform future innovation in public safety and security, and responds to the evolving needs of the Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) community.
To this end, the two organisations have identified key areas of cooperation designed to enhance mutual impact. These include the exchange of relevant documentation and information, participation in selected meetings and events from both entities, the promotion of European and international cross-border operations, and reciprocal communication support to strengthen visibility and dissemination of activities.
Through this renewed partnership, PSCE and 6G-IA aim to reinforce a structured and results-oriented collaboration, joining forces in areas of shared strategic interest to support their collective contribution to Europe’s digital and public safety ecosystem.
‘The renewal of the partnership between PSCE and 6G-IA is an important step to ensure that future mobile communication systems fully take into account the needs and requirements of public safety. With this agreement both organizations can drive 6G development to be the right technological solution for Europe both commercially and from a societal point of view.’
Dr. Colin Willcock, Chairman of the Governing Board of the 6G-IA
‘This renewed partnership with 6G-IA ensures that, as Europe advances towards 6G, the needs of public safety are embedded from the outset, reinforcing initiatives such as the European Critical Communication System and laying the foundation for resilient, secure and future-proof mission-critical communications’
Mario Drobics, PSCE President
