SUMMARY:24th Conference on Innovation in Clouds\, Internet and Networks
DESCRIPTION:5G rollout has started in many parts of the world and is imminent in others. At the same time\, IoT services and applications in vertical areas like industry 4.0\, smart grids\, eHealth and smart cities which utilize the full capabilities of 5G networks are still emerging. Judging by this demand\, massive IoT (mIoT) or massive machine-type communication (mMTC) has been identified as one of the three main communication scenarios for 5G. For enabling and accelerating the large-scale rollout of 5G-based IoT solutions in a wide range of vertical sectors\, large-scale validation trials are an important step. \nThe workshop aims to gather the results of such validation trials for 5G-based IoT solutions in Europe and beyond. In addition to presenting the technological progress and insights gained from these validation trials\, the workshop will also foster a multidisciplinary discussion between industry and academia\, ICT providers and verticals as well as between the 5G and the IoT research communities. This productive exchange is expected to lead to an identification of existing R&D challenges and new insights on how to address them. \nThe workshop is organized in cooperation with the 5G EVE\, 5G-VINNI\, and 5GENESIS projects. The workshop specifically invites papers on relevant validation trials performed by verticals on the large-scale experimental platforms provided (i.e. 5G infrastructure projects of the 5G PPP or other projects or activities). Papers on validation trials for 5G-based IoT solutions performed in other experimental environments are equally welcome. \nMore information about this event here.

SUMMARY:5G-Tours 4 March 2021 eHealth webinars
DESCRIPTION:5G-Tours organises two morning webinars on 4 March 2021:\n  \nWebinar 1  scheduled at 10:00-10:45 CET is on “Remote health monitoring and emergency services powered by 5G”. Presenters are Vera Stavroulaki and Nelly Giannopoulou (Wings ICT Solutions\, Greece). \nThe webinar will showcase solutions for remote health monitoring of people\, especially when already diagnosed with a critical disease still compatible with home care (e.g. some form of cardiovascular disease\, hypertension\, diabetes\, etc.). The main features offered\, utilising the Wings STARLIT platform\, include: (a) real-time remote health monitoring services of main vital-signs\, and (b) quick\, reliable notifications to users\, family members and health care professionals in case of a health incident or a health emergency prediction. The webinar will also shortly showcase how\, when an emergency has been identified\, optimal ambulance routing is triggered to navigate the ambulance through areas with 5G coverage to ensure the provision of medical help on the go as well as timely patient transfer. \nRegistration is available by clicking on the link : https://www.eventbrite.com/e/remote-health-monitoring-and-emergency-services-powered-by-5g-tickets-141972077305 \n  \nWebinar 2 scheduled at 11:00-11:45 CET is on “Hospital powered by 5G”. Presenters are  Mathieu Lagrange\, Laurent Launay (b<>com\, France)\, Guillaume Campion (AMA\, France)\, and Nelly Besnard (University Hospital Center from Rennes\, France). \nFrom the standardisations topics related to both 5G and DICOM\, the webinar will then go through the explanation of the UC8 architecture and features of 5G-Tours Project\, showing also related KPI and metrics. \nRegistration is available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/hospital-powered-by-5g-tickets-142019140071

SUMMARY:5GCroCo Lunchtime Webinar: Result Confidence Assessment and Trial Planning
DESCRIPTION:Lunchtime Webinar Nr.1 \nWelcome to the first in a planned series of 5GCroco Lunchtime Webinars.  These webinars will address different aspects of the technical work of the 5GCroco project in detail with some time for questions and discussions on the work presented. \nAGENDA: \nResult Confidence Assessment and Trial Planning\n \nThis webinar will cover the following topics based on experience from trials conducted in the 5GCroCo project and the analysis of obtained results: \n*_ *  How 5GCroCo plans trials to obtain the required number of result samples\n*   *  How we tweak applications to allow faster trials still providing realistic KPIs\n*   *  5GCroCo results analysis with different methods to determine confidence for different kinds of statistics:\n–                –  Sanity checking\n–                –  Batch Means method for Student-t Confidence Intervals\n–                –  Binomial Proportion Confidence Intervals for simple estimation of confidence of statistical distributions (e.g. latency CCDFs)\n–                –  Limited Relative Error (LRE) Algorithm for statistical distribution confidence (e.g. latency CCDFs) \nAs preparation we suggest reading Section 3.1 of 5GCroCo Deliverable D4.2 on “First Phase Trial Execution Report and Analysis of 5GCroCo KPIs” \nThe slides from the meeting can be found at: https://5gcroco.eu/publications/material.html \nSPEAKER: \nMaciej Muehleisen received his PhD on “Voice over LTE” from RWTH Aachen University in 2015 and worked as a group leader for vehicular communication at Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) from 2012 until 2016 focusing on highly reliable aircraft and maritime networks. \nHe is with Ericsson Research since 2017 and leads the architecture work package of the EU funded 5GCroCo projects on 5G for CCAM in cross-border environments. where he also serves as deputy Technical Coordinator. As “Industry Verticals Coordination” in the Research Area “Networks” he is furthermore supporting the technical coordination of Ericsson’s efforts in the Automotive Edge Computing Association (AECC) and 5G Automotive Association (5GAA). \nHis key research interest is in end-to-end design\, evaluation\, and approval of safety critical communication services.
