SUMMARY:5GCroCo Lunchtime Webinar 11: Precise positioning for Connected and Automated Mobility Services
DESCRIPTION:Lunchtime Webinar Nr.11  \nWelcome to the 11th in a planned series of 5GCroco Lunchtime Webinars.  These webinars will address different aspects of the technical work of the 5GCroco project in detail with some time for questions and discussions on the work presented. \nTITLE:  5GCroCo Lunchtime Webinar 11:   Precise positioning for Connected and Automated Mobility Services\n \n\n\nOverview: Enhanced precise positioning is a key feature to enable advanced CCAM services where lane accuracy is needed to provide an accurate situational awareness to the vehicles. Although a combination of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)\, Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) and vehicle sensors can satisfy most of the minimum requirements of different use cases\, in some locations where satellites cannot be easily tracked\, like urban or rugged areas\, it could lead to inaccuracies of several meters and significant latencies. \n5GCroCo has analyzed three positioning solutions to enhance vehicle’s location\, 5G NR side-link\, 3GPP GPS Real Time Kinematic (GNSS-RTK) and Ultra-WideBand (UWB); following the terminology described in TS 38.305\, these three technologies illustrate RAT-dependent\, hybrid and RAT-independent approaches\, respectively. This webinar introduces the main characteristics\, benefits and challenges of these three technologies in CCAM scenarios\, as described on Deliverable D3.2 on “Intermediate E2E\, MEC & Positioning Architecture”. Moreover\, it presents experimental results of the 3GPP GNSS-RTK and UWB solutions\, which have been demonstrated in 5GCroCo within the context of the Anticipated Cooperative Collision Avoidance (ACCA) Use Case in a highway and an urban scenario. The evaluation of the obtained results shows that both technologies can provide centimeter-level accurate positioning. \n\nSpeakers: Miguel Catalan-Cid; Anastasios Kakkavas;  Maciej Muehleisen;  Marisa Catalan\n \nMiguel Catalan-Cid is a senior research engineer at i2CAT in Barcelona. He received his Ph.D. degree in telecommunications in 2016 from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). SUMMARY:Athens 5G mobility-efficient city workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Athens 5G mobility-efficient city workshop will take place on February 25\, 2022\, from 09.30 to 15.00 CEST. \nThe mobility-efficient city aims at presenting a set of use cases that improve the tourism and tourism-related experiences from various perspectives. The use cases described below depict how airport processes can be improved leveraging the offering of 5G both from the side of the visitors and of the airport management. To this end\, (i) smart sensor- and AI-based parking management\, (ii) personalised evacuation procedure\, (iii) follow-me vehicles enhanced with high-quality video streaming capabilities use cases are foreseen. iv) On top of the above\, 5G-TOURS presents efficient ways of entertaining/educating travellers – in this case\, students going on an excursion – on a smart bus. The Athens-node use case take place on the way to the Athens International Airport and at the airport itself as well. \n5G-TOURS will also leverage 5G technology to devise novel solutions for transportation-related applications\, which rely on the capabilities of 5G so as to aggregate transportation-related information and communicate between different transportation agents: \n\nSmart parking management: This is a solution that relies on the mMTC functionality provided by 5G. A large number of sensors installed at each individual parking position will help keep track of available and occupied spots in real time\, facilitating the parking process within an airport as well as in any other controlled parking area. As a result\, this will also add to the travelling efficiency of tourists through targeted parking spot suggestions.\nAirport evacuation application: This application will monitor the location of the different users and provide them instructions for evacuation. It will rely on 5G capabilities so as to instantly notify travelers and identify the exact position of the crowds. Based on this\, it will devise an evacuation plan and send individual messages to each user with personalised instructions.\nVideo-enhanced follow-me cars: Follow-me vehicles\, which lead aircrafts to parking positions\, monitor and oversee the activity at the Airport Airside area\, and attend incidents\, emergencies and critical events. In 5G-TOURS will develop a solution to equip mobile units of the airport with high definition cameras\, sending multiple live feeds to the Airport Operations Centers (AOCs) and other stakeholders. This solution will leverage 5G to enable live streaming of high-resolution video feeds\, thus allowing for instant situation awareness and more efficient guidance towards parking locations.\nAR/VR-enhanced school bus: Students usually spend a lot of idle time on route\, while being transferred to or from the school premises. Applications based on AR or VR that can easily attract students’ attention and help them focus on valuable informative sessions on the road which were not feasible before 5G. 5G-TOURS will demonstrate how 5G and these advanced technologies can work together towards turning students’ idle time on a bus to constructive experiences.\n\n  \nPlease don’t forget to join the event. \nYou can register for the workshop at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/athens-5g-mobility-efficient-city-workshop-tickets-245418933637

SUMMARY:5G-HEART webinar series #4: Network Architecture and Slicing for Vertical Trials
DESCRIPTION:This webinar presents the network architecture and slicing definition of testbed facilities to support trialling three verticals\, Healthcare\, Transport and Aquaculture considered in the 5G-HEART project. The 5G-HEART project exploits five testbed facilities\, which are three ICT-17 facilities (5G-VINNI\, 5GENESIS\, and 5G-EVE) and two national 5G test platforms (5GTN and 5Groningen). The network architecture and key characteristics on three parts (i.e.\, core & transport\, radio & edge\, and management & orchestration) of these testbed facilities are introduced. Since the focus of 5G-HEART is to implement use-cases of the three verticals on top of the existing testbed facilities\, analysis of the slicing methodology (i.e.\, identification of supportable slice types and flexible network configuration for various types of slices) required to support the trials are presented for each testbed facilities. \nPreliminary agenda: \n\nIntroduction by Haeyoung Lee\, University of Surrey\, UK\nTest Facility #1 – 5G-VINNI by Andres Gonzalez\, Telenor\, Norway\nTest Facility #2 – 5Genesis by George Xilouris\, NCSRD\, Greece\nTest Facility #3 – 5G-EVE by Christina Lessi\, OTE\, Greece\nTest Facility #4 – 5GTN by Jarno Pinola\, VTT\, Finland\nTest Facility #5 – 5Groningen by Iñaki Martín Soroa\, TNO\, Netherlands\nWrap-Up and Closing by Haeyoung Lee\, University of Surrey\, UK\n\nRegister online here.

SUMMARY:5G-SMART webinar "Demystifying 5G and Industrial Networks slicing\, from theroy to practice"
DESCRIPTION:The 5G-SMART project is organizing a webinar entitled “Demystifying 5G and Industrial Networks slicing\, from theory to practice” on the 18th of November\, 2021 at 3 pm CET with 60 minutes duration. \n\nBook your agenda for this event and register your anticipated participation here. \nDetails for the webinar are sent after registration. \n\n  \nAbstract:  Industrial networks in smart manufacturing is one of the areas where 5G will play a major role and specifically network slicing is a tool to comply with reliability and security requirements. Network slicing has been proposed for sharing public mobile networks\, however industrial non-public networks (NPN) are more demanding in terms of security and low latency communication which makes 5G network slicing a tool to support those demands. The webinar will showcase recent development done in the 5G-SMART and NG-IoT projects targeting industrial robotic and IoT networks. The  trial setup located inside a laboratory at the Aalto University campus consists of commercial indoor 5G network operating at 3.5GHz licensed frequency granted by government Traficom for trial of private networks. The setup consists of an end to end system including 5G routers and Cumucore 5G SA core that resembles a real deployment of a smart factory . The webinar will show practical configuration of network slices as well as the implementation aspects and benefits of 5G network slicing. \n  \nWebinar speakers: \n\nDr. Jose Costa-Requena\, Senior Scientist and CEO\, Cumucore\nDhruvin Patel\, Senior Researcher\, Ericsson \n\n  \nThe vision of the 5G-SMART project (www.5gsmart.eu) is to empower Europe’s manufacturing sector with 5G solutions by integrating 5G in the manufacturing ecosystem\, resulting in an accelerated digital transformation. This is done within the project by demonstrating and validating 5G in real-world factory setups\, exploring the roles of mobile network operators and new business models as well as developing new 5G features targeting the manufacturing sector. 5G-SMART lead by Ericsson brings together a strong consortium of partners involved in every aspect of the manufacturing ecosystem. \n  \nPlease feel free to further distribute this information to interested colleagues. \n  \nThank you for your anticipated participation! \n  \nLink for the registration: https://cutt.ly/PRbqgJP \n  \nPlease note that the webinar will be recorded. By participating in this webinar you automatically agree to authorize recording of audio and visual content. The recording of the webinar will be made public on the website of 5G-SMART afterwards.

SUMMARY:2nd GAIA-X Summit
DESCRIPTION:GAIA-X pushes for a federated and secure data infrasctructure: innovation through digital sovereignty by establishing an ecosystem in which data is made available\, collated and shared in a trustworthy environment. The users always retain sovereignty over their data. So\, what emerges is not a cloud\, but a federated system that links many cloud services providers and users together. \nThe second GAIA-X summit will show how data and services are actually being shared in a trusting environment of the Gaia-X ecosystem. Day 1 will focus on vision and internationalisation and show how GAIA-X creates business values\, with insighs from international hubs and data spaces. Day 2 will explain where we are\, and what is next. \nDiscover the agenda and register online here.
