DESCRIPTION:On 22–23 October 2025\, the ATTA Centre in Riga\, Latvia\, will host Techritory 2025\, a leading European forum on digitalisation and connectivity. Under the theme “Connected Futures through Digital Paths”\, the event will gather over 600 speakers and guests from industry\, research\, policy\, and innovation. Topics include 6G and 5G\, quantum\, AI\, defence connectivity\, sustainable data centres\, digital identity\, non-terrestrial networks\, drone applications\, data security\, and maritime autonomy. \n\nCo-creation events\nThree co-creation sessions\, organised with the SNS CO-OP project and the 6G-IA\, will focus on inclusion and monetisation in next-generation technologies: \n\nWiTaR in Focus: Advancing Research and Pre-Standardisation Synergies in Emerging Technologies (22 October\, 11:00–12:30).\nShaping the future of connectivity requires more than innovation — it calls for collaboration between research\, standardisation\, and inclusivity.At this year’s Techritory Forum\, the 6G-IA Working Groups Women in Telecommunications and Research (WiTaR) and Pre-Standardisation\, with support from the SNS CO-OP project\, bring together experts to bridge the gap between R&D and standards in 6G.\nThe session will open with a video message from Erzsébet Fitori\, Executive Director of SNS JU\, highlighting the importance of inclusive research and standardisation in Europe’s digital future.\nThis interactive session invites researchers\, innovators\, policymakers\, and diversity advocates to contribute\, know challenges\, and co-create solutions. Together\, we will identify gaps\, share experiences\, and build pathways toward an inclusive\, impactful 6G ecosystem.\nSpeakers include Pooja Mohnani (Eurescom)\, Veronica Vutto (Trust-IT Services)\, Rute C. Sofia (5G+/6G ETF)\, and Prachi Sachdeva (TNO)\, with a panel moderated by Uwe Herzog (Eurescom). \n\n\nIntegrated Sensing and Communications in SNS Trials and Pilots: Pathway to Monetisation of 6G Networks (22 October\, 14:00–17:00). Organised by the 6G-IA Trials WG and Vertical Task Force Chairs\, the event will explore how ISAC can create value in areas such as infrastructure monitoring\, smart manufacturing\, and autonomous mobility. It will feature SNS-funded projects\, EC representatives\, ETSI experts\, and industry leaders\, with a panel on aligning standards\, trials\, and markets. \n\nA European Cloud: Myth or Reality? (22 October\, 11:00–12:30). This session will explore the role of cloud computing in Europe’s digital transformation\, focusing on sovereignty\, sustainability\, and innovation for 6G. It will present key initiatives such as 3C Networks\, highlight perspectives from open-source communities\, operators and telecom players\, and discuss business opportunities and regulatory needs for strengthening Europe’s cloud ecosystem.\n\nStage contributions\n6G-IA and SNS JU experts will also join high-level stage discussions: \n\nEuropean Leadership in Key Digital Sectors: Driving FP10 to Success (23 October\, 10:30-11:20)\nThis panel will bring together technology leaders from telecoms\, cloud\, AI\, and microelectronics\, alongside European Commission representatives\, to address opportunities and threats for research and innovation beyond 2030. The debate will cover: \n\ndigital sectors expected to dominate in 2030+ (6G\, AI\, cloud/edge\, chips\, satellite);\nareas where Europe already leads and how to maintain this position;\nweaker sectors and actions needed to strengthen them;\nthe role of these technologies in Europe’s 6G roadmap;\nstrategic investments required over the next five years.\n\n\nIn Defence of 5G (22 October\, 17:00-17:50) debating 5G’s perceived underdelivery\, monetisation challenges\, and the potential of 5G Advanced and private networks.\nThe session will also explore whether Europe’s investment culture is too risk-averse\, how to enable AI-driven and deep-tech startups\, and how funding landscapes differ between developed and emerging markets.\nSpeakers include Colin Willcock\, 6G-IA Board Chair\, alongside leading analysts and industry experts.\nDigital Innovation Funding (22 October\, 17:00-17:50)\, debating between official representatives\, will try to understand what funding mechanisms are currently available to support digital innovation\, and how accessible they are to startups and growth-stage companies. But also\, if Europe’s investment culture is too risk-averse to support the creation of global tech giants\, and how the mindset can be send? It will be a new standard that not only provides high data rates\, extremely low delay\, large connection density\, but also will enable the integrated sensing and communications as well as AI-native designs. Novel beyond-communication usage scenarios and use cases are envisaged to be supported\, and thus more computation and communication resources may be consumed\, where their optimization is a must.\n6G communications will bring new challenges due to their sensitivity to scenario conditions\, thereby requiring highly adaptive techniques that will adapt fast\, in order to guarantee a satisfactory delay. Spectrum and resources management will be crucial within 6G to account for the extremely heterogeneous scenario. The network complexity will also be unprecedented\, due to the very diverse applications such as ultra-low latency requirements for critical vehicular communications\, the growing demand of high positioning accuracy for location-based services\, and dense heterogeneous architectures. Several emerging topics are encountered within 6G and this workshop will focus on such emerging topics\, and potential solutions will be presented. Researchers and engineers from academia and industry are invited to submit their recent research results and innovations. \nTopics\nWe seek original work not currently under review by any other journal/magazine/conference. What specific technical contributions have made the biggest impact? \nAbout the speaker:\nChief Technology Officer at SmartAvatar  \n\nDr. Albena Mihovska has been actively contributing to ITU-R\, ITU-T and ETSI standardisation since 2006.  Most recently\, she has been active within the IEEE SA P1955 for 6G Empowering Robotics. \nIn addition to her active role as a WG3 Chair of One6G Association\, she has been appointed as a 2026 Member of the IEEE R8 Conference Coordination Committee (CoCC) and as a Vice-Chair of Finland\, Sweden\, Denmark and Norway\, IEEE Nanotechnology Council Joint Section Chapter\, Denmark. \nShe is Founding member of the CTIF Global Capsule (CGC) network organisation\, and a Board Member of Euromersive. Further\, she has been serving as a Steering Committee member of IEEE WCNC (until 2017)\, IEEE BlackSeaCom (currently)\, and on the OC of IEEE GLOBECOM (’15\, ’19)\, IEEE ICC’20\, and other major conferences and workshops. \nWith her extensive experience and expertise\, Dr. Albena Mihovska is a highly respected figure in the field of communication technologies\, and her contributions have helped shape the future of 6G and beyond. \n  \n\nAbout WiTaR:\nThe Women in Telecommunications and Research (WiTaR) Working Group (WG) focuses on promoting gender equality\, inclusion\, and empowerment within the 6G Research & Innovation (R&I) community. But for these technologies to truly benefit society\, people need to understand them\, feel included in their development\, and trust that they are fair and safe. Traditional approaches to trust often focus only on technical safety and security. However\, this is no longer enough. Trust is also about transparency\, understanding\, values\, and inclusion. \n The inTRUSTED project brings together researchers\, artists\, engineers\, and communities to explore how we can build digital systems that people not only use but genuinely trust. By combining technology\, creativity\, and public engagement\, inTRUSTED aims to help shape a digital future that people understand\, feel confident in\, and actively participate in. \nAbout the speaker:\nDr. Susan Rea is Director of the Nimbus Research Centre at Munster Technological University\, where she leads strategic research programmes in trusted and distributed infrastructure management\, cyber-physical systems\, and secure digital transformation. Her work focuses on the design\, orchestration\, and governance of large-scale\, distributed and networked systems\, with particular emphasis on resilience\, security\, and trust in next-generation digital ecosystems. \nShe is a Principal Investigator within the Research Ireland CONNECT Centre for Future Networks and the Research Ireland ADVANCE Centre for Doctoral Training\, contributing to nationally coordinated research in advanced networking\, distributed intelligence\, and future communications infrastructures. Dr. Rea also serves on the board of the European Technology Platform for Software\, Services and Data (NESSI)\, supporting European research and innovation strategy in software and digital services. \nDr. Rea holds a Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering from Cork Institute of Technology. Her research interests span Internet of Things (IoT) architectures\, edge–cloud integration\, distributed systems management\, cybersecurity for large-scale networked environments\, and the socio-technical dimensions of digital trust.
